 SPAMAST PRESIDENT

In July 2010, the 4th president of SPAMAST, DR. IRVIN C. GENERALAO was installed. And just under a year and a half in the position, a lot has been accomplished. There was an increase in enrollment in both campuses, new extension campuses were opened and new courses were offered in SY 2011-2012. The year 2011 has also seen a dramatic improvement in our institutional passing rates in licensure examinations. SPAMAST has also secured a partnership with USAID-GEM by offering the Job Enabling English Proficiency (JEEP) classes in our Digos campus. Faculty members and staff were given the opportunities to pursue their graduate studies; attend different trainings, symposia, conferences and seminars the past year; present their research papers in the different research for a and symposia, both local and global. We have a professor who was recently selected as a principal candidate for a Fulbright scholarship.

For the past year, SPAMAST has established strong connections in the local, national and international scenes. We welcomed in our fold the esteemed institutions of University of California Riverside (UCR) and Davis (UCD), Can Tho University (CTU), Rubber Research Institute of Vietnam (RRIV), and Kyoto University.

Furthermore, the school has been conducting its strategic planning. This plan is essential to determine the relevance of our existence in Davao del Sur. Currently, SPAMAST is preparing to align itself with the direction of the plans of the Province of Davao del Sur, the Region XI, and the Philippine Development Plan, 2011-2016 of the National

PRESIDENT IN ACTION

Malalag Davao del Sur -

"Overwhelming ang kalipay sa DSSF!"  One of the lines uttered by Mrs. Aurelia Mellorida, Davao del Sur School of Fisheries (DSSF) during the Ceremonial Turn-over and MOA signing held last May 13, 2014 at  DSSF. The said event was participated by Southern Philippines Agri-Business  and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) headed by President  Irvin C. Generalao, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)  represented bythe Provincial Officer Carlito V. Aclao; and DSSF.  It is another  testimony that agencies and institutions are true to their mandates.

“...with BFAR's expertise and technical assistance of SPAMAST, and the commitment and dedication of DSSF, together we can make the project a reality…”

 -Mrs. Mellorida

PRESIDENT IN ACTION

It is noteworthy that the institution established linkages, collaborated and conducted relevant research and extension activities with local, regional, and international partners.  These efforts helped the college amplify its resources and propel its vital functions.

External linkages and partnership of government agencies, foreign institutions and local organizations boosted the college instruction, research, extension and production functions

35 Memoranda of Agreement (MOA's) from various agencies and academic institutions

PRESIDENT IN ACTION

Board examination results, as one of College’s challenges, have been given an emphasis      during Dr. Generalao’s incumbency.  After implementing short and long-term interventions, a significant improvement in institutional passing rates in licensure examinations is observed.

 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET)

Licensure Examination for Agricultural Engineers (LEAE)

Licensure Examination for Agriculturist (LEA)

Licensure Examination for Fishery Technologies (LEFT)

PRESIDENT IN ACTION

The incumbency of DR. IRVIN C. GENERALAO starting June 21, 2010 up to the present has been characterized by economic and political changes at the national scene, including major calamities that struck the Davao and           Visayas regions. These factors have also impacted changes on financing       i ncluding the public higher education. Investment on higher education was quite favorable during these times. Budget on scholarships, capital outlay and operating expenses increased during this time. To complement,      SPAMAST also pursued vigorous efforts to generate resources and secured partnerships with other government and non-government agencies to  propel the academic, research, extension and production mandates of the college.

It is during the incumbency of Dr. Irvin C. Generalao that enrollment figures went up while maintaining its Php 90-tuition fee scheme.

Accreditation is undoubtedly one of the strategies for quality assurance and excellence.   A number of programs were accredited from 2010-2013
